CROTON FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO FIVE GAS LEAKS TODAY IN THE NORTH END
FROM YOUR ALL VOLUNTEER CROTON FD FB PAGE: Around 6:05 PM tonight, Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department was
dispatched to Palmer Avenue for an outside odor of gas. While
responding, 60 Control advised units of another call for an odor of gas
on Hunter Place. Car 2083 (A/C Colombo) and Engine 119 arrived to find
an active gas leak at a Hunter Place home and began evacuating same.
Engine 120 arrived and secured a hydrant and assisted the first due crew
of E119.
While this was occurring, we were notified of another call for an odor of gas on Bank Street. Car 2089 (D/C J. Munson) arrived and confirmed an odor of gas, reporting it may be attributed to the leak on Hunter Place. E118 & TL44 picked up this box and began investigating. After transferring command, E118's Lieutenant Altro (118-3) took over the Bank Street investigation reporting no leak found. The crew of E118 also checked Farrington Road and the North Riverside block between Farrington and Bank with no additional hazard found. After shutting down the broken gas pipe, Croton Fire returned to service, leaving Con Edison on scene around 7:35 PM.
Croton's Bravest responded to a total of FIVE incidents today - all of which were gas leaks in the village's north end. https://www.facebook.com/CrotonFire
