Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton----our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship---in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
The Chronicle has learned that Jean Avolio, who has worked as an aide at the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School for 19 years and led a union fight for better wages for low paid school workers, is facing disciplinary action by the Croton-Harmon school district. The action is apparently in connection with Avolio’s sending of an email to district staff on September 9 which discussed, among other things, lapses in security at CET due to malfunctioning door locks.
As part of the disciplinary procedure, Avolio reportedly has been told not to come into work until further notice, according to parents and staff who have talked to the Chronicle about the situation. Avolio’s CET colleagues were concerned when she stopped showing up to work earlier this week and got in touch to see if she was okay; this is the information they were given.
