EVERYTHING CROTON's FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC.

So we're at this tag sale in nearby Montrose today, perusing boxes of old waterlogged Life and Look Magazines from the 1950's (most of them were sadly not salvageable even for scanning) when we spy two boys in their teens going through one of the boxes. Look at this, says one, holding a magazine that was in better shape than most, in the old days they had to listen to music on a "Victrola". Wow says the other, that's really primitive.  Wonder who this guy Vic was...

And that's a true story. Needless to say, we had to buy THAT magazine once they threw it back into the box! Click on the photo for a 1954 RCA Victor Christmas ad.

Great news—NOW ONLINE! Welcome to the New York City Municipal Archives Online Gallery of over 870,000 images. Selected from the world-class historical collections of the Archives, most of these unique photographs, maps, motion picture and audio recordings are being made accessible for the first time. Visitors are invited to explore and search the collections individually, or across all collections by keyword or any of the advanced search criteria. The gallery includes many complete collections; for others, only representative samples are currently on display. Click on the link: http://nycma.lunaimaging.com/luna/servlet

But to see all the photos for “Christmas”, at present over 75, click http://bit.ly/Ks7mE8 - we skipped the ones with the politicians of which there are far too many!
