SERVICE INFO FOR MARILYN ARLENE HANSEN

With condolences to the family. Your editor got to know Marilyn from past events at Asbury Methodist. Visitation/wake and church services at https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/croton-on-hudson-ny/marilyn-hansen-9012397

Marilyn Hansen, 74, a native of Croton-on-Hudson, passed away in Las Cruces, New Mexico on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Born to Esther McMeen and William Colbert on April 8, 1945, Marilyn lived in Croton until the age of 7 when the family relocated to Peekskill; she graduated from Peekskill High School in 1963. She returned to Croton afterwards, where she met her future husband Peter at Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton. They married at the church in 1970 and raised their two daughters in Croton.

Marilyn worked at IBM during her early career years, and then worked for several years at Briggs-Rogers Insurance in Croton. While working and raising the children, she went to college part-time, ultimately getting Accounting degrees from both Westchester Community College and Pace University. She spent the final twenty years of her career working as the Payroll Administrator at The Mental Health Association of Westchester in Tarrytown.

Marilyn was the treasurer for Asbury UMC for almost 40 years, and was the treasurer for Bethel Cemetery for nearly as many years. She was also a past long time member of the Asbury Bethel Bell choir, and was famous for her cherry cheese cake pastries at various events.

Marilyn was a proud snowbird for the last three years, as she and Peter would spend winters in Las Cruces.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Peter, two daughters Denise (Joseph) Castricone, Janice (Peter Kulibaba) Hansen, a brother William Colbert, one granddaughter, Landry Castricone, seven nieces and nephews, her best friend of over 50 years, Marilyn Reid, and many loving friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Iris Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton, or to the charity of one's choice. Visitation will be at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Croton on Wednesday, January 29 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A service in her memory will be held at Asbury UMC in Croton on Thursday, January 30 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow.

CROTON'S ALL GUARD LOCKSMITH IN THE NEWS, SOMERS

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

CROTON'S ALL GUARD LOCKSMITH IN THE NEWS, SOMERS

Ahough All Guard Lock Inc. no longer has a storefront in Croton, the company is still serving the local area, its owner, Michael Della of Somers, said last week.

“We had a shop in Croton for 29 years,” Della said.

Della now operates All Guard as a mobile unit, which he has been doing for about one year. “We lost our lease and we figured that was the best way possible” to provide his services, Della said.

“I just want to let people know that we’re still around even though we don’t have a storefront,” Della said. “We can be reached by phone and nothing on that side has changed.”

Welcome to Everything Croton--a collection of all things Croton, our history, our homes, our issues, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

CROTON POINT AVENUE PROJECT MAY GET GREEN LIGHT--click on the photo---residents are encouraged to read the very lengthy and thorough Gazette article on this ever escalating-in-cost debacle. The Gazette is on sale just about everywhere.

Also related to the Croton Point Avenue project with the still-empty and deteriorating building at the Gouveia "Park", is an important letter from Bob Anderson--Shiny Object Syndrome--to read it, click here

As for the Katz property re-zoning, you are encouraged to watch the work session of  January 13th on demand at the village website.  Now under discussion (surprise), is the possibility of any building at the site being 100% RESIDENTIAL as opposed to mixed use.  Rumors remain unconfirmed that any building at the site will be "100% affordable".  Residents must address these questions and comments directly to the board.

AND IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, a letter from a recent Gazette and Steven Saporito on the re-zoning/Katz issue: WE NEED TO SAY NO TO THIS PROPOSAL; CLICK HERE
