Fleischmann’s Industrial Legacy Returns to the Community Agenda---A talk in Cortlandt Manor on Jan. 21 revisits the factory that shaped Peekskill and transformed breadmaking in the United States By Ariana Almeida-Martínez-----The history of The Fleischmann Company, a yeast factory located along the Hudson River that revolutionized breadmaking in Peekskill and across the country, is being revisited through a community program. On Wednesday, Jan. 21, the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center in Cortlandt Manor—approximately four miles from downtown Peekskill—will host a talk focused on examining its past and exploring an industry that operated through much of the twentieth century.
