SOME PHOTOS FROM TODAY'S 2013 EAGLEFEST

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

We popped over to Teatown's Eaglefest 2013 Headquarters at Croton Point Park this morning. Despite Friday's snowstorm, the parking lot and paths were cleared and everyone was ready and raring to go...kudos to all the staff and volunteers, including Croton's EMS there in case of emergency....Then we were off to all the listed Eagle viewing sights up and down the river. By far the BEST spots, at least between 10 and 11 am, were at the Verplank waterfront and Georges Island; in total we saw 13 eagles, 8 immature, 5 mature...a great way to spend the morning. Here's some photos....

  1. It was surprising to see so few local officials present, especially the ones who claim the enviro mantle. Rob Astorino attended and he was well received given his position on the Spano housing settlement, taxes, and soforth. The eagle show was great too though I have to say too expensive for a lot of families but there were lots of other things for the kids to see that didn't empty the wallets entirely. Nice exhibits by various environmental organizations manned by enthusiastic volunteers. We stopped at Giovanni's before going and had a great breakfast, later the "girls" went to a craft fair at the Methodists.

  2. I had a great time but we can't afford the show. The exhibits though kept the kids entertained and there were lots of little free things given away that made them happy. Whoever was giving out the little whistles and bird keychains knew what they were doing because our boys were really thrilled. We ate at bagles on hudson. It was just a really nice event and a good way to keep the kids entertained for a few hours. We also managed to see an eagle at Georges Island because our eldest was not going home until he saw one!
