French singer and actress Polaire (1874-1939) had a career in the entertainment industry which stretched from the early 1890s to the mid-1930s. 

She encompassed the range from music-hall singer to stage and film actress. Her most successful period professionally was from the mid-1890s to the beginning of the First World War.

AND NOW A WORD FROM THE CROTON FIRE DEPARTMENT FB PAGE, EXPLORER POST 2089

This past Tuesday night, members of Explorer Post 2089 held a drill in the quarters of Tower Ladder 44. Under the guidance of members from TL44, the younger generation of Croton's Bravest practiced putting on their gear, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, searching and communicating. 


Explorer Post 2089 is for young men and women, ages 14-17, that can learn and train with our firefighters. Explorers are also allowed to respond to emergencies and participate in many of the functions of our department. If you have any interest in joining this incredible group, send an email to info@crotonfd.org.  Explorer Post 2089 will be celebrating their 35th year of service in 2017 - making it one of the oldest in Westchester!

SERVICES & OBITUARY FOR AUSTIN C. CRIMMINS

Austin C. Crimmins of the Bronx, NY, formerly of Croton-on-Hudson, NY passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 30, 2016. Austin was 28 years old.  Austin was an artist, photographer, carpenter and writer. Austin was the recipient of the 2006 New York Browning Society Poetry Award and a graduate of Fordham Preparatory School and SUNY Purchase.
