HOW MARIA SLIPPEN BECAME A VILLAGE TRUSTEE....

By special request, a resident writes: I've been overseas and am really confused. How and when did Maria Slippen become a Croton Democratic trustee on the board? When was she elected? Wasn't she a candidate for town trustee on the Democratic party line at some point?

ANSWER:

--Ms. Slippen sought but did not get the 2013 Cortlandt Democratic party nomination. Instead the town Democrats chose Seth Freach and Debra Costello.

--As to how Ms. Slippen then became a Croton Democratic Party village trustee without being elected--but was appointed by Mayor Wiegman instead--please see the Gazette article from the  WEEK of 1/9 to 1/15/14 edition of the paper on the Slippen/Raskob switch entitled:

RASKOB NAMED NEW CROTON PROSECUTOR, SLIPPEN INSTALLED AS TRUSTEE.
