A SOUVENIR FOLDER: VINTAGE RYE PLAYLAND, THE CROTON LIBRARY & CFOH

How many of us remember those school bus trips to Rye Playland? Click on the photos below to see some picture cards from a souvenir Rye Playland book; we're uncertain of the date but we think it may be as early as the 30's/40's judging from the cars in one of the images....

And don't forget: On October 2nd of this year, the Croton Free Library and Croton Friends of History will host a presentation of lost New York City amusement parks from authors and educators Barbara and Wesley Gottlock (see www.crotonfriendsofhistory.org)

You may also enjoy a look back at Freedomland in the Bronx--and vintage Coney Island too--click on the links http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2014/04/lost-amusement-parks-coming-to-croton.html and

  1. My favorite place was the arcade where you'd play skeet bowling and enjoy all the other arcade and vending machine. Won my wife one of those giant teddy bears.
