CROTON HARMON HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD ROCKS, 2015

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

We have heard nothing but good things about Croton-Harmon High School's Track and Field this year. Good, solid kids and coaches (Doehring and Castelli) with a lot of heart...Here are the results for track and field from Coach Doehring. Strong finish and placements for the team at last week's state qualifier. Season not quite over yet. Armand Pappas is headed to states! Click on the images below.

Great work ALL around. A BIG EVERYTHING CROTON SHOUT-OUT TO YOU ALL!

MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

One of our great finds on Sunday @ the Peekskill Attic Treasures flea market was a very worn but somewhat rare MIROSTAR (CHRISTMAS) PRODUCTS catalog, missing almost everything--from the 1950's--click on the photo. While it's always disappointing to find these things incomplete, we couldn't complain for fifty cents! And as it turns out, collector Mark has most of it already scanned online! PHOTOS & VIDEO FROM CROTON'S 2015 MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Croton's own Tom Faranda has posted some wonderful photos (all rights reserved) and notes on today's village Memorial Day service. There's also a video of Christine Turturro performing what has become her signature piece for these events: Amazing Grace.

For those who don't know, Christine was a recipient of a 2014 METROS AWARD--she was named outstanding leading actress for her role as the nanny in Stepinac's "Mary Poppins." There's also a second video at Tom's site of the Croton Harmon High School Band. Thanks Tom!

p.s. Carol from Cortlandt School of Performing Arts says that they are very proud of Christine--she studies voice there! www.cortarts.com

& IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: ABBA

From our friends @ European Film Star Postcards: It's ABBA! And the Eurovision Song Contest--and much more!

Yes, we admit it. We love ABBA. There. We've said it.

And for Croton's own "Dancing Queen", who prefers to remain known to just a select few, this one's for you!  Click on the link for more http://filmstarpostcards.blogspot.com/2015/05/abba.html

MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

You've heard me talk about the Peekskill Attic Treasures Flea Market before. It's held on Sundays from about 9 or so till--whenever--and is right up the block from La Perla Oriente Bakery. It's not an elegant market by any means and perhaps that's why you can generally find really interesting things there if you are willing to look...

Well today was an absolute banner day for everyone!

Found some wonderful circa WWI German postcards (can anyone translate for me)--and this fabulous vintage board game for a steal--as in four dollars and complete (perfect birthday gift for a collecting friend).
The Kreskin game is circa 1966. Click on the photos and enjoy!

Interesting link for ranch style putz house patterns: http://bit.ly/1HEWIHJ

Got a newsletter today from Meyer Imports; their website has changed; and I really want to encourage you to look at their German miniatures--lots of little people, animals, etc., some vintage, for putz villages and or model railroad layouts.

There's some really neat little things here:

But particularly love the metal gnome homes/smokers. Fab graphics.
