MORE FROM EFSP, MARCELLO MASTROIANNI

More from our friends at European Filmstar Postcards...

We're in Italy at https://festival.ilcinemaritrovato.it/en/ and today we feature Marcello Mastroianni (1924-1996), Italy's favourite leading man of the second half of the 20th century. In his long and prolific career, he almost singlehandedly defined the contemporary type of Latin lover, then proceeded to redefine it a dozen times and finally parodied it and played it against type. One of his first films, Domenica d’agosto (Luciano Emmer, 1950), a nostalgic look at Rome's favourite recreation area: the beach at Ostia...

THANK YOU SENATOR MURPHY & ASSEMBLYMEMBER GALEF, COURTESY OF THE CROTON UNITED FB PAGE

Courtesy of the Croton United FB page:

With minutes to spare, the State legislature passed the barge anchorage bill, giving the Dept of Environmental Conservation a powerful tool to protect the Hudson River.

Mayor Greg Schmidt praised the bipartisan effort, noting that both Senator Terrence Murphy and Assemblymember Sandy Galef co-sponsored the bill: “The Hudson River is our greatest natural asset, and this new legislation brought together politicians from all parties, united to preserve the Hudson for future generations.”

“A big thanks is owed to  Riverkeeper" added Mayor Schmidt. “In 1966 when many thought the Hudson River was a lost cause, it was the Hudson River Fisherman’s Association (now known as Riverkeeper) which fought to bring the Hudson back to life, and in 2017 when the anchorage bill got stalled in the Senate Rules Committee it was once again Riverkeeper who raised citizen awareness to get this bill passed.” Read and see more here https://www.facebook.com/crotonunited/posts/815389081951458

II CINEMA RITROVATO AND ROBERT MITCHUM

New from our friends at European Film Star Postcards: ROBERT MITCHUM (click on the photo to see an Italian postcard).

At Il Cinema Ritrovato, Robert Mitchum (1917–1997) is the subject of the section Two Faces of Robert Mitchum. The American actor is one of the icons of Hollywood thanks to his roles as tough guys, loners and drifters in many War films, Westerns and such classic Film Noirs as Out of the Past (1947) and His Kind of Woman (1952). His facade of cool, sleepy-eyed indifference proved highly attractive to both men and women. Mitchum portrayed two of the scariest screen villains ever: the psychotic evangelist Reverend Harry Powell in Night of the Hunter (1955) and cruel rapist Max Cady in the original Cape Fear (1962).
