Hungarian-born American competition swimmer and actor Johnny Weissmuller (1904-1984) is best known for playing Tarzan in films of the 1930s and 1940s. Weissmuller was one of the world's fastest swimmers in the 1920s, winning five Olympic gold medals for swimming and one bronze medal for water polo. REMEMBERING RORY CALHOUN

Who died this date in 1999.  Born Francis Timothy McCown, an American film and television actor, screenwriter and producer. McCown worked a number of odd jobs before signing with agent Henry Willson. Soon after, he changed his name to Rory Calhoun. 

His first appearance on film was in Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound (1945).
