--Yes we admit it. We love the 30's! Carole Lombard was certainly stunning in this 1937 cover from Picture Play, a British movie magazine. For those who don't know, Lombard's career was cut short when she died at the age of 33 in a plane crash while returning from a WWII bond tour. Click on the photo.

MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

Hello fellow vintage fanatics--to the right an awesome cover from Calling All Girls, 1960--from the publishers of Parents Magazine.

This one has all the bells and whistles--very "innocent" and charming but we don't think it would fly as such today.

Boy we sure know some talented people! The creativity is on speed dial over at CardboardChristmas.com:

1971 "ROCK DAY" TRADITION AT CROTON'S NIDDY NODDY

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

It's a real treat when residents send Everything Croton "vintage" village clippings to share with you all--and of course copies are always sent to the historical society.

Today we found this in our mailbox: FROM JANUARY 1971-"ROCK DAY" TRADITION OBSERVED AT THE NIDDY NODDY; for those who don't know, the NIDDY NODDY was a shop here in the village that specialized in knitting and related arts. "ROCK DAY" A.K.A. ROC DAY IS ALSO KNOWN AS ST.  DISTAFF DAY...

THE ARTICLE READS: ROCKDAY, A TRADITION OBSERVED BY WOMEN IN MEDIEVAL EUROPE AND COLONIAL AMERICA WHICH WAS REVIVED SIX YEARS AGO BY IRENE MILLER, OWNER OF THE NIDDY NODDY, A CROTON YARN AND NEEDLEWORK SHOP, WAS HELD AGAIN AT THE SHOP ON OLD POST ROAD.

Due to the awkward layout of the page, we had to do some creative cutting so you could see it all. Click on the scans below. Enjoy!
