THE VANDERBILTS, CORNELIUS J., THE CROTON CONNECTION

And so when one of the "elves" came across this article about a CORNELIUS J. VANDERBILT of "Croton Landing" from The Evening Post in 1881, it just had to go up. Click on the images. 

For those who are wondering--and it certainly looks like this is the same Vanderbilt in question--Cornelius Jeremiah Vanderbilt (December 29, 1830 – April 2, 1882) was an American member of the Vanderbilt family who had a troubled relationship with his father, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and eventually committed suicide at the age of 51.
