Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things
Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in
short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
A reader has asked about the status of the "gifted Gouveia bank building in Ossining and whether it still remains empty after all these years".
Like Croton's own Gouveia site, the answer is yes, the bank building remains empty--click on the photo from mid-May 2018--in fact, since 2003, the assorted proposals for mixed use luxury rentals, then mixed use affordable housing, then a jazz club, then a mixed use arts center with quaint little shops etc., have all come and gone. Perhaps it is the ever escalating repair costs to bring the building into this century and in compliance with ADA rules and more (back in 2014, over $2,900,000). The village of Ossining has sought proposal after proposal for the site to no avail.
