UPDATED--NOW ONLINE, 6/17/14 FOIL REQUEST RESPONSE REGARDING SOMETHING GOOD, TRUSTEE GALLELLI, MAYOR WIEGMAN ETAL. AND THE GOUVEIA PROPERTY

As many of you know, freedom of information requests have become a routine necessity when it comes to the Gouveia property and many other village issues. That's just the way it is--for some at least as will become abundantly clear--under the current administration.

After a month of waiting for a response to my 6/17 foil request on the Gouveia property--with multiple emails in between advising me that the documents were being "reviewed", I have received a disturbing 70 page word document that clearly establishes a pattern of "inconsistency"--to put it kindly--on the part of our officials versus their public and written statements at meetings, including the most recent board meeting in which the mayor was absent, in letters to the editor, etc. regarding Something Good and the Gouveia property. These documents go back a year.

Because of the village's strict adherence to the language used in my foil request, this response does not contain the mayor's and trustee Gallelli's communications to Something Good in the World, but Ms. Sarbin's responses to them instead. The Sarbin communications nevertheless contain some compelling facts which stand in stark contrast to what the public has been repeatedly told by assorted board members and are a direct response to provided quotes. As a result, yet another more detailed freedom of information request has been necessary.

It is hoped that this 70 page response can be placed online soon. UPDATED: YOU CAN NOW ACCESS THE FOIL RESPONSE AT THE LINK BELOW; depending on your connection, this might take a little bit to load--start from the last page, page 70, first and work your way up http://tinyurl.com/mdbrdkw

  1. Funny how supporters of this project got to know all about what going on but the rest of us were being told that they couldn't say anything and were being forced to put in foi requests. This is damning beyond even what I have expected.

    1. Too often board members accept what they are told and do no independent verification of their own. That's just as bad.

  2. Ditto! Dealing with a third party SGITW really complicates the Gouveia estate and the decision to accept the gift. What do we do with it if it becomes too expensive to maintain? How do we dump it on another sucker? Anxious to see the FOIL info and hopeful the Village Board comes to its senses.
