1/10/14 KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CROWN FREE THROW CHAMPIONS

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

So delighted to receive this news--and so many people have been asking!

Knights of Columbus Crown Free Throw Champions

The local level of competition for the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship was held on January 10, 2014 at the James R. Moore gymnasium at Holy Name of Mary Church on Grand Street.  All Croton girls and boys ages 9 to 14 were invited to participate in the annual skill event in which winners progress through district and state competition.  All of the contestants received a certificate for their participation and sharpshooting skills.

Prior to the start of the competition, a moment of silence was observed, and the event was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Moore, who passed away in December.

The winners in the girls’ groups were 9-year old  Anjane Nathan, 10-year old Emma Conlin, 11-year old Erin Reynolds, 12-year old Caleigh Moore, and in the 13-year old category, Claire Whelan.  The boys’ champions were Ryan Robine (9), Patrick Fleming (10), Wyatt Robinson (11), Sean Reynolds (12), and Connor Jerutis (13).  Each of these winners will compete in a district competition to be held in the James R. Moore gymnasium on Friday, February 21st, with an eye toward moving on to the state and international levels.
