CONGRATULATIONS TO NICHOLAS JAMES MINETT A.K.A. NICK

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

A BIG EVERYTHING CROTON SHOUT-OUT--CONGRATULATIONS TO NICHOLAS JAMES MINETT:

Nick Minett of Boy Scout Troup 28, Croton has been awarded Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Scouting Program of the BSA.  Starting out as a Tiger Cub at the age of six, it took 12 years of hard work and dedication to get there.

Nick decided to do his project for Holy Name of Mary and his fellow parishioners because he wanted to give back something to his church.  “HNM has sponsored my Troup for 50 years and is the place where we meet every week; it is the same building I attended Sunday School for eight years.  It is the place where I received all of my sacraments and has guided me to be a good and moral citizen, just as Boy Scouts has done.”

Because fundraising is part of the project, Nick went before his fellow parishioners at Mass and asked them to help him raise the money to erect a statue of St. Joseph to be placed behind the Church across from the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe. With the generous support of his fellow parishioners, friends and family, Nick raised over $1,000.00, erected the statue of St. Joseph and created a garden of perennials behind it.

Editor's Note: The ceremony will take place on July 11th.  Place and time not yet finalized.  There will be three other boys receiving Eagle status as well. Stay tuned for more.

  3. Great job! I don't think folks know how much work goes into becoming an eagle scout. I had great ambitions to become an eagle scout but faltered after I made 1st Class. Joanne & Jim will remember this accomplishment forever with great pride.
