Guy's followed by a vintage cardboard stand-up Nativity set that was so popular in the 1950's--and which you can occasionally still find on EBAY for less than thirty dollars with the box...and then there's a great December 1957 calendar scene from a local garage--the calendar will be part of the upcoming Croton Historical Society on what the village was like before the highway destroyed its original commercial and residential strip. On another note, as we peruse the village newspaper files, it's rather sad to read about officials who proclaimed that the highway's promise of "urban renewal" and re-zoning would compensate for the loss of that which was worth saving...Click on the photos and enjoy.
