A letter from Jennifer Kooney:
Veterans’ Day is a day to honor and serve those that have
served us and our country. On Tuesday,
November 11, members of the Croton-on-Hudson Cub Scout Pack 28 honored our
veterans by attending our Croton-on-Hudson Veterans’ Day ceremony at the
Veterans Memorial Plot at Veterans’ Corners.
Immediately following the ceremony, our Scouts volunteered to serve
lunch to local veterans at the Croton Yacht Club’s Annual Veterans’ Day
Luncheon. It was a beautiful day of
friendship, community service, respect and thanks. Thank you to the Croton Yacht Club for
letting our Scouts volunteer, helping us to understand
the true meaning of Veterans’ Day. And a
special thank you to a few of our Girl Scout friends who helped us serve. Click on the photo.
Cub Scout Pack 28 of Croton-on-Hudson is in the Manitoga
District of the Westchester-Putnam Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Pack 28 is very graciously sponsored by Holy
Name of Mary Church. Our Pack is open to
all boys from first through fifth grades and supports all religious
denominations. Our Scouts earn awards,
advancements, patches, medals and belt loops.
They build Pinewood Derby race cars and race them, take hikes, and go on
campouts and field trips. The Scouts
have the opportunity to attend summer Scout camp, and they learn skills
including citizenship, fire building, knot tying, archery and swimming, to name
a few, all under the supervision of trained personnel. For more information, please visit our
website at www.crotoncubs.org.
