Finally got around to
using these Folkart “Shiny” Paints—they do create the effect of lacquer http://www.dewberrycrafts.com/products-a-supplies-store.html?page=shop.browse&category_id=59
I use the Shiny line of Folk Art all the time. It's great but the one you really have to try is their glitter/sparkle paint. Two coats and perfection without all the shiny bits of hand applied glitter in your hair, your carpets, for months, lol.
