SOME MORE RECENTLY UNEARTHED BITS & PIECES ABOUT CROTON NOTABLES, LILLIAN NORDICA, OSCAR LEVANT AND ERIC KNIGHT

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

SOME MORE RECENTLY UNEARTHED BITS & PIECES ABOUT CROTON NOTABLES, LILLIAN NORDICA, OSCAR LEVANT AND ERIC KNIGHT--click on the photos.

First up, Croton's Lilian Nordica, 1902, The Making of a Singer, all about hard work and more.  YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT NORDICA HERE.

Next, there's this 1940 article by Damon Runyon about Oscar Levant, who got his start--more or less--right here in Croton....at the Mikado Inn.

READ MORE ABOUT THAT, courtesy of Croton History & Mysteries HERE.

Recently learned that a special 75th Anniversay edition of LASSIE COME HOME, by Croton's own Eric Knight, had been released in 2015 (you can read more about that here).

For those who don't know, Eric Knight, author of Lassie, This Above All, and numerous other books, lived on a farm with his wife here in Croton. He was a fascinating man--and the Yale Papers provide a very detailed account of his life; you can read more about that here http://bit.ly/1k30QbL

A Croton resident, William Hodson, died with Mr. Knight in a 1943 plane crash that took the lives of 35 Americans.  READ MORE HERE.
