Yesterday, former mayor Leo Wiegman and current, salaried Executive
Director of Sustainable Westchester published the following comments:
"llinois has experienced the fastest rate of CCA adoption, driven primarily by rate savings of 25%-30% through June, 2014. Over 600 municipalities have passed aggregation referenda since 2011, including the City of Chicago which now has the largest program in the Country. In sum, 80% of Illinois homes and small businesses benefit from CCA."
Please be advised that the Chicago Tribune tells a very different story:
"Little more than two years ago, Chicago became the largest city to ditch its traditional electricity supplier, Commonwealth Edison, and venture into the marketplace in search of better deals for its residents. The city's contract with Integrys Energy Services, which was later bought by Exelon-subsidiary Constellation, was inked with much fanfare about using bulk buying power to secure better rates and a cleaner power mix. With the contract set to expire next month, however, the city has decided to return residents to the status quo."
