PAUL STEINBERG'S 7/9 GAZETTE LTR. ON GOUVEIA'S COSTS, UP UP & AWAY
To the editor:
Joel Gingold (Gazette June 1) says that the Village Board misled the residents of Croton, but this is simply not true.
I
will concede that the initial costs have been far in excess of the
public documents released by the Board prior to the acquisition. But it
was well-known that the Board was not telling the truth in their public
statements and hence there should be no reason for Mr. Gingold to be shocked.
The
Board released over a hundred pages of Gouveia-related emails in
response to a FOIL request. If Mr. Gingold had bothered to read those
documents, he would have known not to trust the Board, and Mr. Wiegman
& Ms. Gallelli in particular.
Throughout the Gouveia
process, many people commented that the "endowment" would not be
sufficient to maintain the property. The Journal-News even ran a
story detailing all the properties "donated" to other Westchester
municipalities which had become an albatross around the neck of the
taxpayers. READ MORE HERE https://www.facebook.com/notes/croton-united/musings-from-cu-member-paul-steinberg/473298936160476
