Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

As many of you know, there are some Sears "kit" houses in Croton and the area in general. Everything Croton has published some posts on the subject of these houses at the following links:

All that being said, there's a really interesting article from the Home Guru, Bill Primavera, over at The Examiner News: When Homes Came in a Big Box from Sears, Ready to Assemble; check it out @ http://www.theexaminernews.com/home-guru-when-homes-came-in-a-big-box-from-sears-ready-to-assemble/

The Croton Historical Society also has a small file on village Sears kit houses as well. One of these days, we'll try and get some of those pix online.

  2. These had a huge influence on other builders as well. That said, several of these specific houses sit within five miles of mine in either direction. (W. National Rd, between Donnelsville and Springfield OH). Great to see the catalogs. Our house was built in the same period, but to rival plans.
