A 10/22/13 UPDATE ON THE TSAGARAKIS BUILDING, DIGGING ON BENEDICT BLVD, STREET CURRENTLY CLOSED OFF

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

As many of you know, work came to a standstill at the new Dino Tsagarakis building in Harmon some months ago. Rumors were rampant that although claims had been made by village officials that there was sufficient infrastructure in place to sustain a full build-out under Harmon re-zoning, this was not actually the case--and that the existing water lines were not even sufficient to allow the owner to hook up his fire sprinkler system. During the public hearings into the re-zoning, this issue was repeatedly brought up by members of our volunteer fire department. They were assured it was not a problem.  In reality, however:

Currently digging work is occurring on Benedict Blvd. Since an employee informed us that they were working on a water line, we sent the photo above to the engineer's office--and asked what was going on. The response appears below and not surprisingly, sadly confirms those rumors and the infrastructure inadequacy.

We look forward to the Tsagarakis building being finally completed now that the village infrastructure has been "upgraded" to sustain a building with a required fire sprinkler system.

10/22/13 from the Village Engineer's office:

"A new fire service line is being installed to the new building at 383 South Riverside Ave.  The existing line was under sized and needed to be increased in size to supply sufficient water to the fire sprinkler system in the new building.
Thank you"

  2. If we're paying for it, that's sad. If he's paying for it, that's sad too.

  3. I wonder if sprinkler system street hookups were factored in to the supposed rate of return with Harmon rezoning, lol!

  4. The rent is going to have to be sky high to re-coup anything. Nice work Harmon dreamers! We have sufficient infrastructure to sustain a full build-out. Yeah, sure you do. Despicable crew.
