PHOTOS & AN UPDATE ON THE RECENT CET CLASS FIELD TRIP TO FEED THE BIRDS! AND OTHER LOCAL BUSINESSES

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our
businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

There are many reasons to support your local business community. Here are some more.

AN UPDATE ON THE RECENT CET CLASS FIELD TRIP TO FEED THE BIRDS! AND OTHER LOCAL BUSINESSES:

From CET teacher, Mrs. Patricia Lynch: First Graders are studying 'Communities' as part of a Social Studies unit.  Each First Grade class went to a different local business. Baked by Susan, Feed the Birds, Mex-to-Go, ShopRite and Groovy on Grand all welcomed the students with open arms! After interviewing the owners about how they help the community and how they ran their shop, each student got to have a hands-on experience.

In Feed the Birds, 326 S. RIVERSIDE AVENUE, 862-4700, click on the photo, students explored various birdhouses and types of seed. The feeders with devices to trick squirrels into staying away from the seed kept the First Graders busy. Rob taught them about they different preferences birds have and how his hobby turned into a business. He presented each child with a ruler decorated with birds and a class pack of bird identification cards. Fun was had by all and one child was even overheard saying that he was saving his tooth fairy money to buy a birdhouse!

  3. It's really nice when a local business takes the time to do something like this, and I'm sure all the kids had a great time visiting the shops.
