MORE CROTON MEMORIES 2012: A CROTON EASTER SEASON, 1950’S
There
once was a time when the Easter Bunny was not the “Spring Bunny”, when it
wasn’t politically incorrect for the village to sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt,
when Easter corsages were a fashion accessory, and you got them – and your
Easter plants too – at Swanson’s Florist. Continuing
our Croton Memories 2012 series, we bring you A CROTON EASTER SEASON, 1950’S,
once again courtesy of THE CROTON ON HUDSON HISTORICAL SOCIETY. Click on the

What a wonderful collection. Thank you very very much.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of being politically correct, we went to see the Dead Sea Scroll Exhibit at the Discovery Museum in NYC on Friday. The terms BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini = Latin for Year of the Lord) are now BCE (Before the Common Era) and CE (Common Era). Science now wants to redefine these terms to include Judaism, Christianity and Islam as the Common Era because all share the same Old Testament to some extent or other???? Can't wait for atheists to complain about this change also! It's no wonder kids are getting confused in school!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these wonderful old newspaper ads and articles. So very enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteI am SICK of all this holiday p.c. bull. It's a real pleasure to see holidays celebrated in the "old fashioned" way instead of being amalgamated into some sort of mish-mash.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing,I'm the first one to admit that change is inevitable, and that some changes are good, but others are ridiculous. Calling an Easter bunny,a spring bunny, calling Easter and Passover, a "celebration of spring" is crazy. I was infuriated when the village's Christmas tree lighting was called a "peace tree lighting".
ReplyDeleteWe LOVED this. Thank you so much.
