CROTON YACHT CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISING EVENT RAISES $3,600!

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

A MESSAGE FROM DENNIS KOONEY, DIRECTOR, CROTON YACHT CLUB--ON THEIR RECENT SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER--looks like it was quite a success! Click on the photo and see below:

“Thanks to the strong support from the community and local businesses, the Croton Yacht Club raised over $3,600 at its April 21st fundraising event for its College Scholarship program for Croton High School graduating seniors. The event was attended by over 115 people, who enjoyed an all you can eat pasta dinner and participated in a fundraising raffle and silent auction. The Yacht Club would like to thank Westerly Marina, the Ocean House Restaurant, the Purple Monkey, Capriccio’s II, Ferry Sloops, Croton Sailing School, Zollers Marine, Gabrielson Photography, Joe Mullins Designs, Partylite, The Gem Company and all individuals who donated items to the silent auction.  We would also like to thank the Croton Harmon School District, The Gazette, The Village of Croton, The Daily Croton and Everything Croton for advertising the event.

This event marks the fourth year in college scholarship fundraising efforts to benefit Croton High School graduates who are pursuing undergraduate college accredited courses in the marine, maritime and or environmental science fields of study. The mission of the scholarship grant is to promote studies in the marine, maritime and/or environmental science fields; cultivate future local environmental leaders and advocates; develop future stewards of local marine resources and enhance, promote and protect local river related recreational resource.

This scholarship program, combined with our annual River Day educational event in September is a reflection of the CYC membership’s commitment to protecting our great resource the Hudson River. These programs are designed to chart a course for the future by educating the youth of our community about the history and ecology of the river as well as to promote and protect the recreational opportunities the river has to offer.

Once again, the Yacht Club would like to thank all those who attended and supported the event as well as special thanks to its members who worked tirelessly in making the event successful.”

  1. Anybody know if Gary wrote something on the yacht club from the last board meeting? Did I miss it? I can't find my Gazette.

  3. Don't know why but sometimes I can't play back the meetings on my computer although I can watch them live with no trouble. I guess my computer's too old or I need to put software on it for this purpose so please post any articles that may come out. Thanks.
