"A federal judge has denied the state of California's request to stop Trump from using the California National Guard to keep the peace and keep order during these riots."
U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer is allowing the federal troops to remain in the city. This ruling came in response to Newsom’s lawsuit, which argued that Trump’s deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to Los Angeles was illegal. The Trump administration defended the deployment, stating it was necessary to protect federal personnel and property, including ICE agents facing “violent mob assaults.”
Trump and his border czar, Tom Homan, accused Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass of failing to maintain order, with Trump even suggesting Newsom could be arrested for obstructing federal immigration enforcement
