On Saturday, 15 members of the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, as well as our great friend Chief Santone from Millwood FD, participated in a Water Rescue class provided by Signal 73 Fire Training, LLC.
Class kicked off with an equipment review at our Washington Engine Firehouse, covering the various equipment we carry for these types of incidents. This was followed by practicing donning the PPE we have and getting in reps throwing life saving ropes to simulated persons in distress.
We followed this up by heading to the Hudson River near Croton Landing, where personnel rotated through three “stations,” - which covered land-based rescue operations, rescue operations from our Rescue Boat (M32) and Fire Boat (M12). This included boat maneuvering, tethered and untethered Rescue Swimmer operations and multiple victim removal techniques.
Thank you to Instructors Josh, Kyle and Mike for your expertise - we appreciate it! LOTS OF PHOTOS AT (2) On Saturday, 15 members of the... - Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department | Facebook
