CROTON EAGLE SCOUT USES HIS EARS TO CREATE GARDEN MADE FOR BIRDS...LOHUD 

CROTON-ON-HUDSON - A summer day finds Daniel Parker spotting seemingly every bird around — by their songs. “That’s a cardinal,” said Parker, 18, who was born blind. On cue, the red bird serenades again. “That one," he added, "right there."

Parker, of Croton-on-Hudson, stands in Croton Point Park near the Hudson River by his Eagle Scout project: A garden that’s something of a bird magnet. The recent Croton-Harmon High School graduate, who recognizes perhaps hundreds of migratory and nesting birds’ sounds, surveyed the birds in an area of the park last year and researched which native plants would draw them for rest, food and to breed.
