Armand Pappas was named Senior Male Athlete of the year.

He holds the outdoor  triple jump record at CHHS at 45.5 feet, CHHS  Indoor long jump record 22' 1.75"

He has made NY states championship 3 times.  Has made All League and all County.  Armand was the Westchester Long jump champion last year.  And still came in 2nd this year despite returning from an injury that put him on the sidelines for the beginning of the season. He is currently a National Emerging Elite athlete who competed at Nationals.

He will also be awarded The Sportman award at The NY State Championship meet in Syracuse tomorrow.  "they definitely picked the right athlete " according to Coach George Castelli.

Armand will be attending Columbia University in the Fall and will be competing on the Columbia Track and Field team. He plans to study Engineering.

Emily Hoffman was named the Senior Female Athlete of the Year at the CHHS  Sports Award ceremony this evening, and while her abilities on the court and field were noted, it was words like these, from her two coaches.

From Coach Joe Streany (basketball): “She was a quiet killer on the court who had amazing work ethic and dedication, but the strongest thing she brings to the team is not only her love of the sport, but her undying love for her teammates.”

From Kerri Tracy (softball): “When a player loves their team more than they love themselves, anything is possible. So Emily, I hope you realize that this award not only symbolizes the love and passion you played with for the past four years, but it also recognizes the love and passion you had for everyone who had the good fortune of playing alongside of you and calling you their teammate."

Emily was also the Captain of both the girl's Basketball and softball teams.

Emily will be attending SUNY Cortland in the fall and will likely be playing in intramural and club teams. Emily's major will be Athletic Training.

  1. At a time when you read about college students wanting a "safe place" to go to where their feelings won't be hurt, reading stories like this one give me renewed faith in this generations. Congratulations to you both!
