veteran joins local teens in Croton Teen Theatre production of The 25th
Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

on Hudson, NY July 22, 2012 - Trent Kowalik, who won a Tony
for his portrayal of Billy in Billy Elliot The Musical, has joined
Croton Teen Theatre for this summer's production of The 25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee, which opens Friday night at the Croton Academy of Arts
Studio.
This
hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicles the experience of six
adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime.
The show's Tony Award-winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit
musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes; a quirky yet charming cast of
outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and
fit in at the same time.
"It's
a great show with a great message for kids and adults alike - that winning
isn't everything and losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser," says
Trent. "It's been terrific to have Trent in this year's
production", said director Steve Riedel. "He's given the rest
of the cast a first person perspective on the theatre profession in general,
which is a great complement to the CTT mission of providing a professional
level theatre experience for area teens."
Performances of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be
Friday July 26th at 8pm, Saturday July 27th with a matinee at 2pm and evening
performance at 8pm, and Sunday July 28th at 2pm. All performances will be
held at the Croton Academy of Arts, 8-b Old Post Road South in Croton on
Hudson, NY.
