ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, BETHEL CHAPEL & CEMETERY--MORE OF CROTON'S SPECIAL PLACES

Welcome to EverythingCroton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Continuing our new series—Croton's Special Places—here’s the 2nd installment: ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH & BETHEL CHAPEL & CEMETERY

Asbury United Methodist Church and Bethel Chapel and Cemetery is a national historic district comprised of a Methodist church, chapel, and cemetery at 19 Old Post Road in Croton on Hudson. Built in 1883, the church is considered Gothic revival in style and features an intricately patterned slate roof and brick tower. The roof recently underwent renovation, as did the magnificent stained glass windows. The Bethel Chapel, located in the Bethel Cemetery, was built circa 1780 and is a clapboard structure.

Asbury is home to a dynamic active fellowship and is known for—among other things—its Spring Tag Sale and Annual Pre-Race Pasta Party in conjunction with the Harry Chapin Race Against Hunger.

  3. For a short time we attended services at Asbury when we stayed with our uncle while our mom was hospitalized. The light that poured in through the large window was almost magical.
