IN THE NEWS--FREQUENT VIOLENCE AGAINST CATHOLIC CHURCHES WAS WELL DOCUMENTED BEFORE MINNESOTA SHOOTING

Violence against Catholic churches has been on the rise for the past few years, both secular and religious organizations have warned. Now, some are levying criticism at state and federal authorities for what they have said was an inadequate response to such concerns following Wednesday's shooting at Minneapolis's Annunciation Catholic School that left two young children dead. ABOUT THAT DISTURBING---BUT UNSURPRISING---TRAINWRECK OF A NY TIMES ARTICLE ON THE TRANS SHOOTER---ASSORTED THOUGHTS AND MATT TAIBBI TOO

Former Rolling Stone contributing editor Matt Taibbi isn’t happy with The New York Times, which opted to use the preferred pronouns of the transgender shooter who murdered two kids at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis this week. Robert “Robin” Westman opened fire during a mass commemorating the new school year. Seventeen others, 14 of whom were also students, were wounded in the attack. Westman committed suicide shortly after the assault. The Times opted to go with this headline: “Minneapolis Suspect Knew Her Target, but Motive Is a Mystery.”

The motive angle is a joke, but Taibbi was more concerned about the multi-level trainwreck with the article, which he says apologizes for reporting what actually happened at the school. They laid out the facts while smothering the copy with liberal talking points. In short, Taibbi noted how the publication was petrified of its readership if they didn’t toe a certain line, which you already know: READ MORE AT Why a Former Rolling Stone Editor Called Out the NYT for Their Headline About the Minneapolis Shooting

TORRES IN THE NEWS--URGES CAPITOL POLICE TO PROBE ANTI-ISRAEL ACTIVIST AFTER "IF YOU'RE STILL ALIVE" WARNING

NY Rep Urges Capitol Police To Probe Anti-Israel Activist After 'If You're Still Alive' Warning--Congressman Ritchie Torres says a chilling social media post from a pro-intifada activist has left him fearing for his safety—and his family's.  The Bronx Democrat on Tuesday, May 27, called on the U.S. Capitol Police to investigate Guy Christensen, as reported by the NY Post.

Torres spoke out on X after Christensen, a 19-year-old anti-Israel activist believed to be from Cranberry Township, PA, said that his support for Israel “will haunt [his] family for eternity,” adding, “if you’re alive..." THE EXAMINER NEWS---ADAM STONE---THE WATCHDOG ISN'T DONE YET: DAVID McKAY WILSON ON RETIREMENT AND WHAT COMES NEXT

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton-on-Hudson: our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

A detailed story on LOHUD'S David McKay Wilson (his recent piece on teachers sexually abusing students was excellent; see it here.)

The Watchdog Isn’t Done Yet: David McKay Wilson on Retirement and What Comes Next

August 28, 2025--Adam Stone

When veteran local journalist David McKay Wilson walks into St. Mark’s Church in Mount Kisco, his family history surrounds him. His great-grandfather helped lead the congregation there more than a century ago, and Wilson himself now serves on the vestry.

That sense of service and civic engagement has defined Wilson’s reporting over the years — digging deep, uncovering hidden truths, and shining a spotlight on misconduct by public officials on behalf of a community of readers.

After almost 40 years as one of Westchester’s most relentless watchdog journalists, Wilson is stepping away from The Journal News/LoHud. At 72, he has accepted a buyout from Gannett, with his last day on Sept. 8. Wilson has not previously spoken publicly about the move, telling The Examiner this marks his first time sharing news publicly of his retirement.

But his work as a watchdog isn’t over just yet.

“Well,” the Carmel resident said in a phone interview earlier this morning, “I’m going to still do some writing. I’m still trying to figure out the venue for that.”

And while he might start a Substack or contribute to other publications, given LoHud’s place in local news — and the reach of his popular reporting-based Tax Watch column — his retirement marks a significant moment for accountability coverage in the region.  MORE AT

GAZA--IN THE NEWS--FAMINE REPORT "WAS AT BEST, SLOPPY, CARELESS---AND AT WORST, FRAUDULENT AND POLITICIZED"

The Big Story--On Aug. 22, 2025, the United Nations’ Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared that famine was underway in Gaza City—a claim that instantly shaped headlines, fueled advocacy campaigns, and even sparked legal action. But the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) wasn’t convinced. On Wednesday, the NCRI dropped a report titled “Starving for the Truth: Fraud, Famine, and the Collapse of Rigor in IPC’s Gaza Declaration.” And the findings? Nothing short of shocking.

The NCRI charged that the IPC’s report was, at best, sloppy and careless—and, at worst, fraudulent and politicized. Its final assessment, sent to The Scroll by an NCRI senior analyst who preferred not to be named, makes no attempt to minimize the report’s damning findings on the IPC’s methods:

The NCRI assesses with high confidence that the United Nations’ famine authority engaged in data fraud by systematically manipulating statistical models, suppressing contradictory evidence, and concealing favorable outcomes associated with U.S.-led aid efforts. This pattern of conduct meets criteria for deliberate data misrepresentation and aligns with institutional incentives to undermine the success of competing American humanitarian initiatives. The cumulative evidence suggests the intent was not scientific accuracy but narrative control.

The IPC’s declaration, then, reads less like a plea for the hungry than a deliberate, calculated act. Whether intended to weaken support for Israel or, more likely, to undermine an aid program that was working, it is clear that the IPC is driven by political motives that trample over truth, indifferent to the lives its distortions affect and the terrible geopolitical ramifications they might yield.

KAROL MARCOWICZ--AFTER THE DEADLY MINNEAPOLIS SCHOOL SHOOTING, IT'S TIME TO STOP INDULGING DELUSIONS--AND TALK TRUTH ABOUT TRANSGENDERISM

The heartbreaking mass shooting at the Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday has brought the issue of transgenderism once again to the forefront of American conversations.  Robert Westman was an unwell boy who, in 2019, decided he was a girl and officially changed his name to Robin.

Westman was a minor at the time so his mother, Mary Grace Weston, signed the application.

This is the second such attack by a transgender person on a Christian school.

In March 2023, Audrey Hale killed six people, including three children, at the Covenant School in Nashville. MORE AT After the deadly Minneapolis school shooting, it's time to stop indulging delusions – and talk truth about transgenderism
