And now a word from Dennis Kooney, Director, Croton Yacht Club Inc.
I would like to thank those members of the community who supported
the recent Croton Yacht Club College Scholarship fundraiser which raised over
$2,700. Special thanks to those Yacht Club members who worked tirelessly in
coordinating and executing another successful event.
The mission of the scholarship grant is to promote studies in the
marine, maritime, environmental science and/or environmental engineering
fields; to cultivate future local environmental leaders and advocates; to
develop future stewards of local marine resources and to enhance, promote and
protect local river related recreational resources.
A one-time grant(s) totaling two
thousand dollar ($2,000.00) will be awarded to a 2017 Croton-Harmon High School
graduate who is pursuing undergraduate college accredited courses in the
aforementioned fields of study. Including this year, the Yacht Club will
have awarded $11,000 in grants over the past seven years.
Support of this program is an investment in the future health of the river we
all love. Thank you again for your support and we hope to see you all at our
annual “River Day” event on September 9th.
