From the Croton-on-Hudson FD FB PAGE: Today, we reluctantly and sadly say farewell to a lifelong member and friend, Past Captain John C. Barirde of Harmon Engine Company No. 3.
"Johnny B." has been a member of the CFD for over 35 years, where he has held many positions and provided guidance and mentoring to several of our rank and file. In addition to his roles here with the CFD, he also recently retired with the Croton Police Department, where he served as a Sergeant. In addition to his service to us here in Croton, he also spent many years as a Fire Investigator with the Westchester County Cause & Origin Team.
He can be remembered for so many things - but we all know the one thing he was famous for - his mustache. No matter how he wore it, how bushy it was or how crazy the waxed curls would get - you always knew that behind it all was one of the most humble and kindest guys you'd ever meet.
We will miss you dearly, friend, and please take comfort in knowing that we will never forget you and will continue to look after your family. https://www.facebook.com/crotonfire
