Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

You never know what you’ll find at The Croton-on-Hudson Historical Society—Part Seven: Peter Strauss, Milton Berle, Alan Young. As you may know, The Croton Historical Society has embarked on a multi-year project to digitize its extensive library of village newspapers. It will be many years before this project is completed. (You can see the results of these efforts in the latest edition of THE CROTON HISTORIAN: CROTON IN 1940 – click http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2012/07/croton-historical-society-presents.html

These newspaper archives not only tell you a lot about the village itself, but provide a window on the world in that particular time, in this case 1973. They can also answer those burning questions – smile – such as:
Did actor Peter Strauss really live in Croton? Yes! Click on the photos. And here's Strauss in one of his best roles: Masada http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk5LVFs3LlQ

Whatever happened to Alan Young a.k.a. Wilbur of Mr. Ed fame? Click on the link http://www.flickr.com/photos/22283683@N07/7508220814/in/photostream then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Young

And last but not least, did Milton Berle really do a show in Croton. No…but…click on the link http://www.flickr.com/photos/22283683@N07/7498015832/in/photostream

Once again, many thanks to the hard-working volunteers of The Croton Historical Society.
