THE CITIZENS AGAINST THE CROTON POINT AVENUE PROJECT FB PAGE HAS AN UPDATE---THE NEW BIDS ARE IN

December, 2019 update: Three bids were submitted. The lowest came in at $3.8 million. This number is $1 million higher than anticipated.

Additionally, project management costs came in at $747K; $147K higher than anticipated.

At a recent Village Board work session, the Village Manager anticipated borrowing $1.9 million to complete this project.

PHOTOS, CROTON SENIOR CLUB, 2019 CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Croton Senior Club held it’s annual Christmas Party on December 10th at the Stone Manor Restaurant in Hawthorne. 70 senior members attended and as you can see from the photos they had a great meal and had the energy to kick up their heels on the dance floor, Rockettes style. They were welcomed by President Janet Meyer, and Recreation Director Mark Duncan wished everyone a safe and happy holiday. It was another wonderful event enjoyed by all. Meetings are held every Friday in the community room at the Municipal Building and new members are always welcome. Contact Valerie Nolan at 271-3006. DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF REALITY IN CROTON

The following letter was published in this week’s issue of the Gazette.

To the editor:

Anyone who has tried to pill a cat can sympathize with Mr. Masur: objectively speaking, the cat is stupid and you know what is best for the cat, but the cat still resents having something forced down its throat.

Mr. Masur is distressed (The Gazette, week of Dec. 5/11) because after the mayor and village attorney had patiently told us what is being forced down our throats, Croton residents “seemed often to ignore the information we had just been given.” Mr. Masur notes that the village attorney “clearly and explicitly explained” the process but—much like the cat—the residents of Croton resisted. They “continued to raise planning issues that were not and could not be addressed” in the current process. Mr. Masur went on to scoff at residents relying on “rumors” “mostly from the internet” “that equip us with very different versions of reality.”

OK, we get it Mr. Masur. We are stupid and don’t appreciate that you know what is best for us. READ THE REST HERE.

FRONT PAGE 1 GAZETTE WEEK OF 12/5 THRU 12/11, CROTON TRUSTEES SEEK RECOMMENDATION ON BLACK ROCK DOG PARK - residents in area seek to have it closed or relocated. They maintain that "the dog park has consistently impeded our ability to enjoy the use of our homes". Interesting paragraph why it can't be moved to Croton Landing: Federal funding means CL is open to non-residents as well, so a "gatekeeper" would have to be hired to check for vaccination certificates and permits. REMEMBERING ANNE BAXTER

Who died this date in 1985....an American actress, star of Hollywood films, Broadway productions, and television series. She won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe, and was nominated for an Emmy. 

Granddaughter of Frank Lloyd Wright....she had some stage experience before making her film debut in 20 Mule Team (1940). She became a contract player of 20th Century Fox and was loaned to RKO Pictures for a role in Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons (1942), one of her earlier films. In 1947, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Sophie MacDonald in The Razor's Edge (1946). In 1951, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for the title role in All About Eve (1950). She worked with several of Hollywood's greatest directors, including Alfred Hitchcock in I Confess (1953), Fritz Lang in The Blue Gardenia (1953), and Cecil B.
