First up--we
love old postcards and 'orphan photos', so called because they have
somehow become separated from their 'real families'--and especially
those that are holiday or Christmas-themed. The one to the right comes
to you courtesy of Howard Murray--he added the 'Celebrate Winter'--and
is more than likely pre-1920's. Utterly charming.
It's
followed by a fabulous gift from a friend that finally made its way out onto the Christmas table this year---a pair of vintage
kitschy Christmas tree napkin holders--probably 1960's, maybe a little
earlier. SOOOOOO HEAVY!
They're followed by a great vintage postcard of Sal Mineo, courtesy of our friends at European Film Star Postcards. For more about Mineo and their post---click HERE.
And finally their post on VAN HELSING, THE 2004 production with Hugh Jackman.

As
many of you know, "zinnfiguren" or tin flat figures (also known as
flatties) are in great abundance at Antoinette Stockenberg's vintage
putz Christmas mantle every year--what's a village without people and
such--but they are frightfully expensive, vintage or new. You can see
these wonderful inhabitants of Antoinette's village through the years right here
But
back to the Zinnfiguren, Barclay seems to be making the reproductions again--you can check them out at BARCLAY COMPANY HERE
Through the years, however, a number of us have made our own faux-or-false-Zinnfiguren--a.k.a. flatties...
Here are two that Howard has made:
A horse and sled--click here And a snowman--click here
Stay tuned for more....
