A 2019 UPDATE ON PEEKSKILL'S PARAMOUNT THEATER AND A QUICK REVIEW OF 2018's "CAROL OF THE KING", THE IRISH DANCE SPECTACULAR

As many of you have heard, the Paramount Theater in Peekskill is closing "temporarily" for maintenance and/or minor renovations.  Let's hope that's true.

We were last there in December to see The Carol of the King, The Irish Dance Christmas Spectacular. Absolutely fantastic...in the mode of Riverdance but with a storyline.  Click on the photos.

It's the quintessential tale--evil but beautiful witch bewitches King---and darkness falls over the land---but the spirit of Christmas, the King's brother-in-law, and his good queen ultimately prevail.  Fabulous sets, lighting, effects, and of course dancing! We would see this again in a heartbeat and recommend it highly.

Getting back to The Paramount, a visit there is an opportunity to step back in time...when a night out at the movies was meant to entice all the senses.

Designed by George and Charles Rapp, architects for Netco Theatre Corporation, a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures, in 1929, it was completed in 1930 as a 1500 seat movie “palace”. It's also been designated a Westchester County Landmark.
The seating is beautiful, restored, and positively plush compared to other theaters of this era.

The ceiling has also been beautifully restored but a small section is in need of some minor maintenance.

According to the January 17, 2019 edition of THE EXAMINER NEWS:  A spokesperson for Red House Entertainment said the Paramount will remain closed until late February or early March to do some painting and take care of heating and plumbing issues.   YOU CAN READ THE ENTIRE ARTICLE HERE.
