ANOTHER BANNER SUMMER MORNING IN THE HUDSON VALLEY, TAKE-OUT FROM THE CROTON MINI DELI & A VISIT TO THE CORTLANDT FARM MARKET

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

ANOTHER BANNER SUMMER MORNING IN THE HUDSON VALLEY, TAKE-OUT FROM THE CROTON MINI DELI & A VISIT TO THE CORTLANDT FARM MARKET....click on the photos and enjoy....

Residents who want to support local businesses---and local farms--have a multitude of choices right here in the Hudson Valley...one of these--and just a short drive away--is THE CORTLANDT FARM MARKET.

First up, however, a little breakfast---and the BEST bacon, egg and (for those who like cheese) breakfast sandwiches around come from the Croton Mini Deli.  Owned by Don Kenneally Sr. for over 20 years--..and now with the help of his son, Don Kenneally Jr, and their staff--the Croton Mini Deli has become a village tradition---and rightfully so.  Read more about them here.

Next up, our destination--The Cortlandt Farm Market.

For those who don't know, Cortlandt Farm Market is a full service garden center and farmers market.

It's located just outside of Peekskill N.Y. on Route 202 (Crompond Rd) in Cortlandt Manor and a very pleasant, quick drive.

Here's just a small sample of the tomatoes and other vegetables under cultivation. The on-site greenhouses are used to grow extraordinary hanging baskets, annuals and vegetable plants.

And did we mention they make cider donuts! Fresh, on site, delicious!

Of course we had to bring home the Zucchini Walnut Loaf--which is just about the best we've had anywhere.

Cortlandt Farm Market also stocks unusual jams, jellies, pickles and artisan vinegars....as well as garden accessories and sculptures....Read all about them here.

And as always, let's keep those shopping and dining dollars local.
