Henry (Stretch) Jacobs passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 26th. Stretch lived in Croton-on-Hudson since 1965 and was known and loved for being friends to all and a master storyteller. Stretch was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 12, 1929. He served in the US Army and graduated from Brooklyn College. Stretch was a freelance stenographer for many years and eventually started his own court reporting service – Henry Jacobs Associates in New York City.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Judy Jacobs, and by his loving children – Larry (and wife Julie,) of St. Paul MN, Mai (and husband David) of Beacon NY, and Paul (and wife Jennifer) of Amherst MA. Stretch was a deep source of love and support for his six grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. The family welcomes friends to visit their home on Saturday (2-4pm). A memorial will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Center for Constitutional Rights in Henry Jacobs’ name is suggested. (https://ccrjustice.org/donate)
