YOU DON'T NEED ALL THIS...
SHERIDAN GORMAN IN THE NEWS---FAMILY KNOWS THE HORROR OF "SANCTUARY LAWS" BUT GOV. HOCHUL...
On the morning of March 19, three police officers knocked on a door in Yorktown Heights and delivered the worst news any parent can receive.
Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old Yorktown High School graduate and a freshman at Loyola University Chicago, was shot and killed while walking with friends. The man charged with her murder was an illegal immigrant who was detained at the border and then released.
He was then arrested in Chicago and released again. Then he failed to appear in court.
Sheridan’s mother, Jessica, put it plainly: a 10-second phone call from local police to ICE could have saved her daughter’s life.
After a tragedy like this, you’d think Democrats in Albany would ask what went wrong and how we can prevent it from happening again. Instead, Gov. Kathy Hochul and the Democrats in the Legislature doubled down.
Their new “Local Cops, Local Crimes Act” prohibits police from cooperating with federal immigration authorities and strips state law enforcement funding from any department that refuses to comply. IT'S 250 TUESDAYS AT THE EVERYTHING CROTON BLOG! #15
It's 250 Tuesday --- Time for our new weekly series---250 TUESDAYS at the blog--#15! We're celebrating America's 250th! CLICK ON THE LINKS AND/OR PHOTOS:
So where was Nathan Hale really hanged? The question came up with a young neighbor fascinated with all things American Revolutionary. Here's what we found: Where was Nathan Hale really hanged? | Ephemeral New York
Our young neighbor was also permitted to watch "THE PATRIOT EXTENDED CUT" with our movie club last week--- of course his father added that there was some historical and dramatic license taken with the content but warned that the battle scenes and blood were quite accurate.
"Look" he said as if he discovered the wheel for the first time, "That's the guy from Braveheart".......Indeed.....We do recommend the PATRIOT, EXTENDED CUT, AVAILABLE ON AMAZON.
AND FINALLY---FROM HISTORIC HUDSON VALLEY --You can have dinner inside an 18th-century tavern in Westchester this weekend, and the part I love is that the whole night is built around what a tavern actually was before it became a word we slap onto sports bars. On August 8 and 9, Historic Hudson Valley is turning the Ferry House at Van Cortlandt Manor into Toast 250! Tavern Nights. The $65 ticket includes cornbread, a grazing board for the table, a chicken entrée, dessert and your choice of an alcoholic or nonalcoholic drink. There will be a fiddler playing while you eat, historic games and Revolutionary War trivia built around local stories. Because taverns in the 1700s were not just places to drink. MAILBOX---- TRAFFIC/VISITOR DATA REQUESTED
A reader writes---and I am paraphrasing here---that with "over 150 new units about to be crammed into the Croton Point/Harmon area"--traffic, noise and congestion from events like the Blaze are not our only concern. The county holds numerous events throughout the year (yesterday was an all-day Ecuadorian festival that made travel periodically onerous) and Croton Point Beach, when open, produces much visitor traffic. There's also Eaglefest and the Hudson River Festival (used to be known as Clearwater). Add normal commuter traffic and...she wonders if there are any numbers for cars/visitors to these events?
Response: Certain it's out there. Crowdsourcing the info and will post when and if it arrives.
Updated:This just came in from Chris for Eaglefest:
Peak Years: A record turnout was set when over 4,000 participants attended the event. This total included visitors at the park as well as those at its surrounding partner viewing sites along the Hudson River. (From the River Journal)
