WHO WILL BE NEXT? VILLAGE MANAGER DEFENDS I.D.E.A. HEARINGS

You are encouraged to read a letter from Paul Steinberg on page 9 of the August 13th through 19th, 2026 edition of THE GAZETTE. The paper does not have an online presence but it on sale just about everywhere.

There is much in the Steinberg letter worth pondering about recent events involving some of our elected officials, village staff, the I.D.E.A. Committee (formerly the DEI committee re-branded) and assorted first amendment issues. However, these two paragraphs caught our eye--again the paper is on sale just about everywhere:

The McCarthy hearings did not stop at a single target. And there is no reason why the IDEA hearings will stop at a single target. Indeed the events of Friday suggest this will continue: Bryan Healy is our version of Roy Cohn, providing legal justification for the continuation of the IDEA hearings.

No other village in Westchester investigates whether journalists are committing “misinformation” or are “legitimate” journalists. This is not normal. It may be the Croton Democratic process but it is not the democratic process.
