When it comes to Christmas Elves and Pixies, few makers had the special touch that the Japanese did in the late 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. From the proverbial felt and plastic knee-huggers to the pottery pixie whimsies---alternately playful and sometimes wickedly mischievous in expression---it’s tough to find a vintage Christmas collector who does not count at least one Made in Japan elf or pixie among their ornaments. In fact, these Made in Japan pixies and elves even made their way into everyday non-holiday use--salt and pepper shakers, ashtrays, etc.
