NBC News and the Star Tribune both reported that AI‑manipulated images and videos have been misleading millions. There is one about Minneapolis in particular in which The Independent specifically highlighted a viral Minneapolis protest video that was confirmed to be an AI fake, explaining how synthetic protest crowds and overhead shots are being mass‑produced and circulated. AFP also debunked a separate Minneapolis protest clip that included an AI watermark, showing how some of these fakes are being sloppily exported. Bottom line; always check, double check, and verify....THEN REPEAT...and good luck.

State of Emergency Declared - Garbage Pickup Cancelled for Monday, February 23

Due to the major snowstorm slated to impact our region, Village Manager Bryan Healy has declared a state of emergency for the Village of Croton-on-Hudson effective 6 a.m. on Sunday, February 22. This state of emergency will remain in effect until further notice. All residents are strongly encouraged residents to remain at home and off the roads as much as possible to allow DPW crews to clear the streets and keep them passable for emergency vehicles.

Garbage pickup has been cancelled for Monday, February 23, due to the expected impact from the storm. All garbage will be picked up village-wide on Tuesday, February 24.
Weekend parking permits will be valid through Monday, February 23, in lots A, B, C and F of the Croton-Harmon Train Station Parking Lot. Please make time today to relocate your vehicle off-street.
Alternate side parking regulations are suspended for Monday, February 23.

To the Editor,
I would like to share my support for law enforcement on every level in this country. From local police and state troopers to federal law enforcement officers. We have watched them being attacked and harassed nonstop by some very deranged people, including some very privileged women. What would happen to women and children if there were no officers to call upon, or officers to uphold the laws that protect us? Without the protection of law enforcement, they would likely be the first to be harmed. Perhaps those that are crying about kings and fascism could imagine a world where we have no police officers on any level.

Almost five years after falsely claiming it had found graves of 215 Indigenous children, the Kamloops First Nation has announced the supposed crime scene may never be excavated—but could instead be preserved as a ‘Sacred Site.’
Excerpt: As I’ve written before, the whole saga has been a signature disgrace for the Canadian media, which bit hard on the “unmarked graves” narrative back in 2021, but then refused to correct the record when the story collapsed. (Coverage from The New York Times, it should be said, was somehow even worse.)
CTV News’ aforementioned false claim that there’d been “confirmation” of the 215 unmarked graves’ existence represents just one of thousands of similar lies that appeared in the media during this period. The narrative took on the status of a sacred myth. And Indigenous academics, politicians, and journalists who opined on the issue were treated as unfalsifiable oracles. Almost five years after falsely claiming it had found graves of 215 Indigenous children, the Kamloops First Nation has announced the supposed crime scene may never be excavated—but could instead be preserved as a ‘Sacred Site.’
Excerpt: As I’ve written before, the whole saga has been a signature disgrace for the Canadian media, which bit hard on the “unmarked graves” narrative back in 2021, but then refused to correct the record when the story collapsed. (Coverage from The New York Times, it should be said, was somehow even worse.)
CTV News’ aforementioned false claim that there’d been “confirmation” of the 215 unmarked graves’ existence represents just one of thousands of similar lies that appeared in the media during this period. The narrative took on the status of a sacred myth. And Indigenous academics, politicians, and journalists who opined on the issue were treated as unfalsifiable oracles.
