1962 HOMEMAKER CONTEST, A REQUEST FROM THE MAILBOX

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

At Everything Croton, we try to answer requests when possible.  This one, however, took us quite a long time to find---and one of the Elfs here only stumbled upon any reference to it by accident. A reader remembers that her mother---and the other local village Moms--entered a "Homemaker" contest sponsored in part by the local Grand Union. Her mother in fact won a set of "fancy glasses" still used for the Christmas and Easter table but could recall few of the other details. She wondered if there was anything "out there"--and believes the year was 1963.

Well there was this--1962 however---FROM THE PATENT TRADER--and the Grand Union is mentioned---as well as a prize of "glassware"...Click on the ad below---sliced into two for easier reading.
