MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC, FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

As always, some special requests, fabulous new finds, oldies but goodies and more. Click on the photos and links.

First up, courtesy of Mark Podmore, Noma Candle-Lites---and with the box! Candle-Lites were electric Christmas lights designed to resemble traditional wax candles, often with a “dripping wax” effect molded into the plastic. Manufactured by NOMA Electric Corporation, a pioneer in holiday lighting since the 1920s, these lights became popular in mid-20th century American homes.

It's followed by more recent Christmas fare---CVS HAD THEM back in 2019, 2020-- and perhaps other places too--anyway the very popular electronic Santa Hotline toy telephones....click on the photo.

A neighbor's son was simply fascinated by the whole "old-timey" feel of it.  WE CLASSIFY IT AS INTERESTING PIECE OF MODERN CHRISTMAS KITSCH.

And finally, some wonderful old stock Dresden trims from Blumchen.

German--and
a whole page of them---and in the sought after and rare color blue as well.  While supplies last of course; go to Dresden Trims Shop: Border Trimmings Paper Foil Craft Embellishments - D. Blumchen

And finally a great shot of Norma Shearer, who died in 1983.
Reviewing Shearer's work, Mick LaSalle called her "the exemplar of sophisticated 1930s womanhood ... exploring love and sex with an honesty that would be considered frank by modern standards". READ AND SEE MORE HERE.  CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO SEE SHEARER in 1930. And to read more about Shearer in 1939's "THE WOMEN", click here.

1776 is on TCM--and probably one of your local channels as well--for July 4th. It's a wonderful film with a wonderful cast--including Howard DaSilva, who lived in Croton; see more at EverythingCroton: VERY HAPPY TO REPORT THAT "1776"-- WITH CROTON'S HOWARD DA SILVA--WILL BE ON ON TCM, JULY 4TH
